Eligibility
To qualify for a rebate on an electric heat pump water heater, you must:
§ Be a residential electric, gas or combo customer of Xcel South Dakota
§ Projects invoiced in 2024 where the customer is replacing a natural gas furnace can qualify
§ Projects invoiced in 2023 where the customer is replacing a natural gas furnace do NOT qualify
Review qualifying equipment requirements before purchase.
Qualifying Equipment & Installation
§ Residential equipment listed on the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) or ENERGY STAR that meet minimum Uniform Energy Factor rating
§ Your heat pump water heater must be installed by a registered contractor. Visit Xcel Energy's customer-facing to find contractors who have submitted these rebates in the past
§ Natural gas water heaters, indirect units and commercial water heaters are not eligible. Electric water heaters with a rated storage volume of 80 gallons or more are not eligible
§ Water heater may be installed in a new or existing home
