Amazon Smart Thermostat

Amazon’s Wi-Fi Smart thermostat offers indoor humidity sensor reporting, energy dashboard monitoring, and scheduling (up to four time periods can be configured, each day of the week). Alexa does the programming for you, automatically adjusting the temperature to suit your preferences. If you link the Amazon Smart Thermostat to an Alexa-enabled device, you can control your HVAC system with your voice (this thermostat does not have a speaker or microphone, so for voice control, use a compatible Alexa-enabled device, like an Amazon Echo or the Alexa app). When not at home you can use the Alexa app to manually adjust the temperature or set a schedule.

Automatic Control: When you leave home area with your phone and nobody interacts with Alexa for a while, Alexa might have a hunch that nobody’s home. If no one interacts with Alexa for a while at night, she might have a hunch everyone is asleep. When someone interacts with Alexa or uses smart devices, she can tell that someone is home. Alexa learns from your daily interactions and improves over time. You can also help Alexa know when you go to bed or leavehome by saying, “Alexa, goodnight.” or “Alexa, I’m leaving.”

Energy Dashboard: Understanding your home’s energy usage is easier than ever with the Alexa energy dashboard. It works with a variety of smart lights, plugs, switches, water heaters, thermostats, TVs, and Echo devices. Once you connect your compatible devices to Alexa, you can get a better understanding of the energy they use, right in the Alexa app. The energy consumption of select smart home devices like light bulbs, light switches, plugs, thermostats, and water heaters can be tracked and managed in the Alexa energy dashboard. You can also manage the energy use of your compatible connected devices using Routines and Hunches. Routines are short cuts for Alexa, saving you time by grouping together a bunch of actions so you don’t have to ask for each one individually. For example, you can set the “Alexa, good night” Routine to turn off all of your porch lights at once. Hunches is a feature that can help you save energy without even thinking about it. If Alexa has a hunch that you forgot to turn off a light and no one is home or everyone went to bed, Alexa can automatically turn it off for you.

Sustainability: This thermostat is made with 33% post-consumer recycled plastics in the product and accessories, and 93% of this device's packaging is made of wood fiber-based materials from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources.

Compatibility: Compatible with most 24V HVAC systems (i.e., conventional forced air furnaces, heat pumps, radiant boiler). Not compatible with 110-240V HVAC systems (like electric baseboard heat).  Network: 2.4 GHz only, 802.11 b/g/n. 5 GHz networks or connecting to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks is not supported. This thermostat requires a C-wire. Before purchasing, use check compatibility to see if the thermostat will work in your home and to determine if your home needs a C-wire power adapter.
